Rae Lynn Hays is the founder and CEO of Spirit Canyon Herbals. She has competed as a barrel racer for over 30 years and she understands the importance of supporting the health of equine athletes for consistency and peak performance. She also appreciates the dedication and effort that our equine partners give us during their working years, and she wants to ensure their comfort during their golden years.
As a former Extension Agent at Montana State University, Rae Lynn used her experience in livestock nutrition, grazing, plant physiology, and horticulture, as well as her formal study of herbal medicine, to create herbal formulas for her own retired and active barrel horses. She hoped to find solutions to address issues related to arthritis, acute inflammation, ulcers, and anxiety without the side effects of conventional drugs. After seeing the results of these herbal blends in Rae Lynn's horses, friends and fellow competitors began asking her to create formulas for their own animals. The success of these formulas, and the trend towards holistic care in animal wellness, spurred the creation of Spirit Canyon Herbals.
So far, Rae Lynn has developed and tested 17 unique herbal formulas to support the health of dogs, horses, and livestock. She has also created a number of custom blends for individual clients. Rae Lynn lives in northwestern Montana with her family, dogs, horses, and fainting goats. When she is not working with herbs or barrel racing, she enjoys camping, reading, and leatherwork. She also volunteers her time to 4-Hers, assisting with horse and livestock projects.
